What is Ved.io
It's a new video sharing site that allows you to create interactive video compositions with text, links, images, quotes, or other web information synchronized to the video. The composition you create is viewable on Ved.io or it can be embedded on other sites.
What are the differences between Vedio and other video sites?
Vedio isn't just about video. It's a new medium where you can display web content in a companion window at specific time points in the video.
Can't you just use overlays?
Overlays can have relevant information links and multimedia to enhance the video experience, but overlays are by necessity small and can't stay on screen very long because they will cover some of the video content. Ved.io allows the author of a composition to use large graphics and images, and can create rich sets of content to complement the video.
How do I create a Ved.io?
Just upload a video or enter the url of a YouTube video (which is faster, but the video quality is lower), enter a description, and go to the authoring page. As the video is playing, pause it anytime to add content. A dashboard pops up and you select content type and add the content. It's fast and simple.
What sort of video can I use?
Upload (file formats, file size limit) video can be as long as 10 minutes and as large as 200 megabytes, depending on the type of upload. We accept the following formats: MOV, MPEG, MPG, MP4, WMV, ASF, AVI (including DIVX).
Does using Vedio cost anything?
No. In the future Vedio intends to create premium products and services for professional users, but for now, Vedio is free.
Who owns the content I put on Vedio?
You retain ownership of your video and companion content. By creating a vedio you give us permission to show it on our site and anywhere it can be embedded until you remove it.
Can I put copyrighted material on Vedio?
Aw, come on. Please respect the rights of copyright holders. (fair use?)
Can other people edit my Ved.io?
You can allow public editing of a Vedio, or you can allow other Ved.ios to be created using your video. You must explicitly grant these permissions on the video upload page.
Why did you create Vedio?
Video on the web has come a long way and is a very exciting medium, but for the moment, it just isn't very interactive. We wanted a way to create very engaging short form video that would allow a fully interactive experience.
What sorts of topics lend themselves to interactive compositions?
Anything informative, or anything where a multimedia presentation can tell a story better. Say you have a crafts show. You can demonstrate how to build the craft, offer lists of the parts and tools necessary, illustrate key steps with images that become chapter markers, and link to sites to buy the items necessary for the project.
Is there any type of content that is inappropriate for Vedio?
Among other things, the posting of abusive, harassing, vulgar or obscene content is a violation of our Terms.
What do I need to have installed in order to upload and view videos?
Users must have Flash 9 installed in order to view ved.ios.
What type of Vedios do you expect people to create?
That's the exciting part. We expect to be surprised and delighted by what the online video community creates.
Is there an embeddable version of the player or a Facebook app?
